Areas Of Research
ILSR may undertake research in the following four areas
- Planning, protection, preservation and development of Minor, Minority, Vulnerable and Endangered languages in the Bengali speaking areas (including those outside West Bengal).
- Developing Computational Resources in Indigenous languages and culture.
- Speech Science Research, Psycholinguistics, Forensic Linguistics, Neurolinguistic Studies, Translation Studies, Computational Linguistics and Natural Language Processing, Speech Pathology, etc.
- Development of Teaching Materials for school students in languages and mother-tongues spoken in West Bengal.
- One of the thrust areas of SILSR is to concentrate on research in dialectology, dialect geography, dialect mapping, dialect survey, documentation and archiving.
- Cultural studies and translation.
